CARDS FOR MASON
Write and Make Cards to Support the Sailors of USS MASON!
This is an open call for greeting cards to support the 360+ sailors onboard the USS MASON (DDG 87) throughout their upcoming deployment in 2023-24. Our two card collection programs are open through MAY 1, 2024 and are as follows:
MESSAGES FOR MASON. Let's shower the sailors of USS MASON with store bought or handmade cards filled with handwritten messages. Either purchase store-bought cards or make them at home with a generic thank you or patriotic theme. Make sure to include a personalized, signed expression of support, gratitude and respect. S
PROJECT WRITE HOME. We are collecting blank greeting cards (store-bought and handmade) to provide to USS MASON sailors throughout deployment to send home to their friends and family members. We are requesting cards for all occasions, including but not limited to:
Birthdays
Miss You/ Thinking of You
Love You
Happy Anniversary
Get Better Soon
Sympathy
All Occasion Cards
Card Guidelines for ALL CARDS
Cards should be no larger than an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper folded in half
Please include an UNSEALED envelope with each card
Cards cannot contain any kind of glitter – loose, paper, tape or glue glitter
Cards cannot contain rhinestones, pearls, metal charms or large bows
If your card is made with dark cardstock, please adhere a white piece inside
No dark envelopes please
Card Signing Guidelines
You can address the card to: DEAR MASON BLUE LION or DEAR SAILOR
Be positive. They are meant to uplift and encourage.
Be thankful. Be sure to communicate your appreciation for the sailor’s sacrifices and dedication to us and our country.
Be respectful. These women and men have earned it more than most of us!
Be kind. Remember most of us have never and will probably never have to endure the difficulties that these sailors have experienced.
Be encouraging.
Sign your name with the town and state you are writing from.
DO NOT include your email or mailing address.
If it is a classroom or workplace or group project, you can include a group photo.
DO NOT SEAL THE CARD. Leave them unsealed for inspection or they won’t go.
