Welcome to Life at Anchor!

I'm Van, the maker behind Life at Anchor. By day, I'm an attorney working remotely from home. In between conference calls, school drop-offs, shuttling the kids around, and everyday family life, you'll usually find me in my crafting room creating something with fabric, in the kitchen rolling out some dough, but always making something with a little bit of love and joy.

Life at Anchor is where I share my love of quilting, embroidery, sewing, crafting, baking, and all the projects that bring joy to everyday life. Whether I'm stitching a baby quilt on my Baby Lock Solaris, trying a new embroidery design, or experimenting with a recipe in the kitchen, I believe handmade things have a special way of connecting us to the people we love.

As a military spouse and mom of two humans and a fur baby, life can be busy and sometimes unpredictable. Creating has always been my anchor—a place to slow down, learn new skills, and make meaningful things with my hands. This space is a collection of those creative adventures, finished projects, lessons learned, and the occasional behind-the-scenes look at life along the way.
